Out & About
The Highland village of Kinlochleven is located within the Lochaber region, which is the home of the Outdoor Capital of the UK. Bursting at the seams with fantastic outdoor activities, the area boasts forests, lochs, mountains, glens, castles, spectacular beaches, sheltered coastline, islands, and of course Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain. The website provides comprehensive information on the area including outdoor activity companies, visitor attractions, restaurants, weather information, snow reports and maps of individual areas within Lochaber.
Kinlochleven is on the path of Scotland’s best known long distance walk, the West Highland Way which links Glasgow to Fort William.
For those who want to take it easy in the village and sample some local produce, the Atlas Brewery is well worth a visit. Just four miles from the village is the Loch Leven Seafood Cafe and Centre which offers the freshest seafood at competitive prices complete with a fantastic view of the Loch.
Like the rest of the Highlands, Kinlochleven is biker friendly and whether you ride a supermoto or a sportsbike you will find it is the ideal base from which to explore the many varied and interesting routes on the West Coast.
Calmac Ferries can ferry you in comfort to the nearby Isle of Mull, which is a treasure of wildlife, and serene and spiritual Iona. Further afield you can explore the rugged Isle of Skye, “The Misty Isle”, or go on a full island hopper adventure taking in the Inner / Outer Hebrides chain of islands.
